Gold Bar. in his trial against time, paced one mile in 1.59 3-5 at Addington to-day. Urns being the first New Zealand bred pacer and the second m the bouineni Ilemi.phcre to cover eight furlongs in two minutes or faster. The record ot 1.59 Z-J o Australia and New Zealand is ho.d by Lawn Derby, who was bred, owned, and trained in Australia, Ho took his record at Addington in 1938. ~ , In his effort to-day Gold Bar travel led very fast in the early stages his tunc feu tho first two furlongs being 28 l-sscc. lie was at the half-mile in 58sec and covered six furlongs in 1.27 3-5. At that stage it looked as if Gold Bar would accomp ! <; his mission, but tho winning post omnia time was 1.59 3-5. Although the track had make a good recovery from the recent rain, the footing was not as good as when Lawn Derby took his record over three years ago. ____^_
