COMING-OF-AGE PARTY
In honour of the coniing-of-age of their son, Pilot-Officer Arnot Stewart, Mr and Mrs A. Stewart gave a most enjoyable dance in the National Club rooms on Saturday evening. The bright music played by a professional orchestra kept the young folk well entertained, and|, following supper, Miss Nancy Chamberlain and Mr J. Hunt played extras. About 60 guests were present, being greeted on arrival by Air and Airs Stewart, the latter being attired in a gown of satin-backed crepe-de-chine, with a spray of , carnations. Air H. Billens acted as M.C.
During a delightful sit-down supper, following the Joyal toast proposed by Air W. T. Duckworth, Air J. H. Nash proposed the health of the guest of honour, congratulating him on his cotning-of-age, and also on receiving his commission with the R.N.Z.A.F., and wishing him, on behalf of all present, every success in his service overseas and a safe return to New Zealand. Pilot-Officer Stewart proposed the toast of his parents, and thanked them for all they had done for him and also for giving him such an enjoyable party. Mr A. Stewart proposed the toast of “The Armed Forces,” t!iis\ being replied to by Private A. Picrard. Air Stewart presented his son with a large key, in the form of a book, which was signed by all those present.
