EFFECT OF MILITARY SERVICE. (Press Assn.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 13 Under the existing suspension of apprenticeship emergency regulations, an apprentice undergoing Territorial training is credited with the period of training as time served under his contract of apprenticeship for the purpose of calculating wages payable to him under the contract, hut the period of such training is required to be made up at the end of the apprenticeship term on such terms and conditions relating to wages or otherwise as may he prescribed by an apprenticeship committee.

Amended regulations gazetted tonight fix the rate of remuneration for the time to be made up at the end ot* the apprenticeship term at the rate presented in the contract for the last six months ol the apprenticeship, plus half the difference between that rate and the journeyman’s rate. CONFERENCE ON WAGES. (Press Assn.) AUCKLAND, Nov. 13. At the request of the Federation of Labour, the Alinister of Labour (Air Webb) is convening a conference of representatives of the Employers’ Federation and the Federation of Labour to consider a proposal for an agreement “that wages of apprenticeship orders he made to apply to existing, as well as future apprenticeship contracts.” The conference will be held in Wellington on Wednesday.
