Mumps arc still affecting- the attendance in the primary department of tile Mnrton District High School, according to the report of the headmaster (Mr A. \Y. Tucker) presented at the monthly meeting of the School Committee on Tuesday night. Mr J. F. R. Wallace presided. The headmaster reported that the attendance for the month was as follows: —Primary roll, 363, average at tendance, 320; percentage of attendance 83. Secondary roll. 98. average attendance 93, percentage of attendance 95. Thirty-two hags of manure had been put on the school gardens, which should now be in good order. Mr Tucker said the attendance at present entitled the school to an extra teacher and application had been made for a temporary assistant. The visiting committee reported that good work had been done by the caretaker about the grounds tmd everything was in good order. Messrs Winchcombc and l’reecc were appointed a visting committee for the current month.

Leading-Aircraftman Leslie Grinin, sou of Air and Airs G. Gridin, Russell Street, iMai'tori, has received his commission at an Air Force training station in Ontario, Canada.
