Mr and Mrs John Murray and Miss M, Murray, of Palmerston North, are the guests of Mrs J. McGeorge, of Dunedin.

Her friends will be pleased to learn that Mrs Hewitt continues lo enjoy good health.

The arrival in the Middle East of the JO Now Zealand Women’s War. Service Auxiliary girls is recorded un the N.Z.E.F. Times, published in October. “The girls have already taken, up their duties at the New Zealand Forces Club, where their presence will strengthen the bonds of that invaluable institution with our own country,” states the journal. “.In their smart white and green uniforms, with embroidered New Zealand badges and N.Z.F.C. epaulettes, the girls presented an attractive appearance m the club. ‘Tuis’ is the .name by which the girls are like.ly to become known.” The death occurred recently Mrs E. A. Eagle, ivlio was born in Karon in Idol and lived there most of her life. After her marriage to the late Mr John E. Eagle they went to Carterton to live, and from there to Makara. where they farmed for a number ol years. In 1903 they retired to Karon, where Mrs Eagle died. She was one of an old pioneering lamily, being a. daughter of the late Mrs Coin ford, who died seven years ago at the age ol 10f years. Her husband predeceased her eight years ago. She leaves a family of four sons and four daughters Ibe sons are .Messrs John Eagle (Ohau), Charles Eagle (Makara), William Eagle (Te Horn) and Stephen Eagle (Karon), and the daughters Mesdames J. Bow lei (Shannon). E. Allen (Shannon). J. Hoskins (Palmerston North), and 1C A. Williamson (Karori). There are -19 grandchildren and several great-grand-children. Four grandsons arc on active service overseas.
