MRS CORRIGAN'S DEATH
VERDICT OF MURDER. (Press Assn.) AUCKLAND, Oct. 15. The death of Mrs F. L. Corngan, who was well-known in Tauranga resulted in a murder charge against Rev. V. Cerbi, her son-in-law, according to news received from Nairobi (East Africa). Mrs Corrigan was visiting at his house in an isolated part of the colony and a disagreement developed as to a visit to Kilimunjaro. The next day Mrs Corrigan was killed on the-veran-dah by a shot from the sports gun of Mr Verbi. Accused's version of the tragedy was that when Mrs Corrigan came out of the house he had the gun poised with his fingers, on the triggers and. as he turned startled, one barrel was" discharged almost simultaneously with the other. Mrs Corrigan fell mortally wounded. The story of accused was not accepted by the jury and at an extended trial, which has just concluded, a verdict of murder was returned.
Mrs Corrigan was the widow of the late Mr Richard Leary. of Palmerston North, the founder of the chemist business that bears his name.
