Washington.—Expressing concern at national unfitness. President Roosevelt disclosed that 1,000,000 men had been rejected as physically or mentally unfit for military service—9oo.ooo for various physical or mental defects, and 100.000 because they lacked the required standard of education. Don't let friends at Home feel that you’ve forgotten them in these troubled times. If they have children, a gift of kiddies’ clothing would be doubly welcome as it would save them clothes ration coupons. On silk and art silk there are high duties, but there would be no difficulty over cottons or woollens. A woollen pullover or cardigan for a boy or girl would be acceptable; and we’ve some lovely little woollen matinees, cfc., for babies and wee tots. —Collinsori and Cunninghame, Ltd. *
