MANAWATU UNION,

flic final meeting for the reason of the management committee of the Manawatu Rugby Union was hold last evening, Mr A. ~M. Oiigley presiding. It was decided thai, as far as granting blazers for representative players is concerned, the matter be held over until the end of the war on account of the expense involved. The Wellington union wrote inquiring whether the Manawatu union would be prepared to arrange a match between Athletic (the Wellington champion team) and the local champion team, on September 27. The application was declined on the score of expense. The Kia Toa team were declared the 'winners of ihe Goldfinch and Cousins Cup for the subsidiary competition and a letter of congratulation is to be sent to the club. Ill's club was also declared the winners of the Abraham Cup for most championship poinls in all grades, with 198.8 points. United being runners-tip with 151.6. It was slated that Kia Toa had won the cup for the eighth consecutive time. It was also decided io write a lettr.r of congratulation to the R.N.Z.A.F. Club. Levin, on winning the Rowland Cup on Saturday. Permission was granted the United Club to play Wangnnui Technical Old TV>ys at Wanganui on Saturday for the Licensed Victuallers' Cup. The club was also granted nennission to play (he Miramar Club (Wellington) on the following Saturday at Palmcrston North. Mr Oiigley moved that, a letler of congratulation lie sent Io the Referees' Association for the manner in which its members had carried out their duties during the year, and this was carried. As this was the last meeting of the committee for the season, a sub-committee consisting of Messrs Onglov, J. U. Hardie (treasurer) and the secretary (Mr G. A. Brown) was set up to look after the affairs of the union during the close season. Mr Onglcy congratulated the members of the committee on the way in which they had conducted the affairs of the union during the season and especially thanked the secretary for his help and advice.
