DISMISSED OFFICER.
QUESTIONS IN HOUSE. j (Hoc. 12.20 p.m.) LONDON, Au s . 1. The dismissal of Major A. ReidKellett, who was born at Christcburch, i New Zealand, from his employment at the War Office was raised in the .House of Commons. Mr Stokes declared the War Office had employed Major Reid-Kellett as al civilian in 1039, but dismissed him because ho had given information regarding waste and extravagance in the construction of camps. Captain Sandys, replying, said Maior Reid-Kellett in'l93o sent to the War Office a memorandum accusing surveyors and contractors of malpractice and dishonesty. Immediate inquiries proved the charges were unjustified and a High Court Judge later found the charges disproved. Major Reid-Kellett later reiterated the allegations, writing a crude and impertinent letter to the War Office threatening to publicise the matter. Reid-Kollett's contempt for the regulations, his insolence, and practice of spying upon his co-workers made it impossible for the War Office to retain his services.
