HITLER WILL LOSE
MR HOPKINS CONVINCED. MOSCOW DISCUSSIONS. (Tinted Press Association —Copyright) (Roc. 8.5 a.m.) MOSCOW, Aug. 1. Mr Harry Hopkins conferred with M. Stalin alone lor three hours last night, apart from an earlier talk at which others were present. Mr Hopkins said after his second visit: "Hitler is going to lose." A .Moscow communique says fighting continued throughout the night in the directions of Novorjev, Smolensk and Jitpniir. There were no major engagements elsewhere. The air force, operating in the Waek Sea area, sank an enemy destroyer and severely damaged two other ships. An Helsinki communique says Finnish troops, particularly fast light divisions with cyclists, continue 'to advance east of Lake Ladoga, and are crossing vast forest zones which were fired by the fleeing Soviet forces.
