ESPIONAGE AT HAWAH.
JAPANESE ROUNDED U^
WASHINGTON. Julv 30.
The recent seizure of 19 Japanese fishing vessels in Hawaiian waters represented a partial round-up of spies, says the United Press of America. Informers revealed that the crews included officers of the Japanese naval reserve. Some vessels were ’equipped with powerful radio transmitters and also complete sets of hydrographic charts of the Hawaiian islands. The vessels flew the American flag, but an investigation revealed that the real owners were Japanese. Customs officials in iSan Francisco stated that special permission would be granted to the Japanese liner Tatuta Maru to discharge passengers today. An application to discharge 2 500.000 dollars worth of silk cargo would he considered.
