WAGE DEAIANDS REFUSED. OTTAWA, July 30

A fuller account of the coup al Arvida aluminium plant V uws that the disturbance began on July 24 with the pot room, whose "300 workmen decided to strike claiming that their demands for higher wages had been refused. They remained within the plant, .but 9000 workmen in other departments had been engaged in an orthodox strike since July 25.

Troops arrived on July 27 coinciding with the potmen’s decision to leave the plant. The strikers have nou returned to work and have asked the union to present their ease to the Dominion Government. Army tanks equipped with searchlights patrolled the approaches to the plant to-night. 1 roops with machine-guns are posted at strategic points.
