SHORTAGES IN GERMANY.

(Rec. 10.40 a.m.) LONDON, July 23. Au Admiralty statement says that the way in which German raiders have treated captured ships indicates that Germany is suffering a shortage of metals, especially brass. A raider took from one ship’s engine the packing brass in addition to ordinary stores. Before another ship was sunk it was stripped of all brasswork and fittings, including brass casings. porthole frames, and cooking utensils.
