Peliie, manager of the Ba;*: of New Zealand at Marion, leaves to-day lor a holiday in North Auckland. During his absence Mr A. N .Baker will fill tho positicn of manager. Mr P. W. Doidge, ivl.L'. for Tauranga, visiied Martou on Monday afternoon and was taken round the town by Mr E. B. Gordon, M.P. lor Rangitikei. He was afterwards entertained by tho members of tho executive couimit- • teo of the Rangitikei brunch and women's . section of the New Zealand National Party. Mr Gordon, accompanied by Mrs (Jordon, left yesterday for Wellington for the opening of Parliament. Telegraphist E. Sieeiy, ot the New Zealand Division ot the Royal Navy, and a son oi Mr and "Mrs A. C. M. Sieeiy, of Marton, was entertained by the Marton Patriotic Committee on Saturday evening and made presentations by the Mayor (Mr F. Purnell). By beating Ohingaili oh Saturday, Ilunterville became the 1941 Rugby champions of the Rangitikei Sub-Union. Tho final points were: Huntervillc 13, Old Bovs 11, Bulls 7, Ohingaiti 4. Mrs Williams won a bogey competition played at the Hawkestone Golf Club. Members of Nos. 1 and 2 Platoons, A Company, Marton Home Guard, had shooting practice at tho miantuie rific club range at Marton Junction on Saturday. On July 23 a further draft of men from the Marton district will leave for Trentham for training for overseas service. The names nro:—F. N. Brooker, A. Bullock, N. Davis, H. H. Dempsey, S. R. L.
