OBITUARY.
AIR CHARLES HENRY AIASSEY. The death, on June 21, of Air Charles Henry Alasscy, of Taikorca, removed one who Avas well-known throughout the Alauawatu County for a long period of years. Air Alassey, who was in his 73rd year, was secretary of the Oroua Downs Dairy Company until the close ot last year, having been obliged to relinquish the position because of ill-health. In earlier days he was secretary of the three dairy companies in that area, the Oroua Downs, Taikorea, and Glen Oroua companies. Air Massey is survived by his wife. Airs Louisa Alassey.
MR WILLIAM GARDINER ERASER Mr William Gardiner Fraser, a sort ol the late Air and Airs Thomas Fraser, who were very well known in the early days of the Manawatu "as residents of Carnarvon, passed away at his homo at Petone on June 24. Mr Fraser, who was 63 years of age, was engaged in wool-classing until recent years, when he was obliged to retire Irom active work on account of ill-health. He was born at Carnarvon and went to school at Awahuri. Since the completion of his school days he had resided in Petone and was unmarried. Aliss Kate Fraser, of Petone, is a sister, and Mr .1. D. Fraser, of Lower Hutt, a brother. The late Air C. D. Fraser, of Palmerston North, was also a brother. AIR. A. AIcW. AIKEN. Air Alexander AlcWiliiam Aiken, who passed away on June 25 at his residence in Amesbury (street, Palmerston North, had many friends in the city. He was born in 'Wanganui 37 years ago and was employed on his 'father's farm at Kaitoke. Later lie was engaged in farming at Alatarawa and Upper Tutaenui, Marton. Twentyfive years ago lie retired and came to live in this city. He was patron of the Palmerston North Bowling Club, to which he donated several trophies and a member of the Citizens’ Lunch Club. Ho had travelled extensively, making three trips round the world. He was a generous benoiactor and in April last year made gifts of £IOO to each of the following organisations: The Salvation Army, the New Zealand National Party, the New Zealand Alliance, tlie Y.AI.C.A.. the Willard. Children's Home, All Saints’ Children’s Home, the Plunket Society, and the New Zealand Institute for the Blind. Air Aiken, who married Aliss E. Arthur at Patea in 1893 and was pre-i deceased by her in 1938, had no family. He is survived by three sisters, Airs C. Gray (Marton). Airs A. Thoms (Wanganui), and Airs L. Hogg (AYa.ngamii)
