FRIESIANS IN THE MANAWATU
In September of last year the renowned Friesian breeders, the Piri Land Company, “Totara Park,” Orini, having disposed of part of their property, decided to offer the wholo of their heifers born in 1939 for private sale with the exception of two heads. The well-known Alanawatu Romney Marsh breeder, Mr J. Callesen, made an offer for the pick of 50 heifers from the 60 head and two special bulls for mating with the heifers, and this was accepted. These cattle have wintered remarkably well on the Afanawatu pastures under Mr Callesen’? care and have deve loped into well-grown, good conditioned cattle, showing we l ! in calf and they should come into excellent profit ready to establish Friesian records. An important sale is being held'on the property at Karorc, on AVedncsday, July 16. commencing a 11.30 a.m., and never before in the history of the Manawatu has such a splendid line of 50 rising 2-year-old pedigree Friesian heifers been offered for unreserved sale by public auction. Two bulla also will bo offered. Catalogues are now available from the auctioneers. Inspection of the stock on the property prioi to the day of Uio sale is cordially invited.
