Major Ernest A. Ilarding, N.Z.E.F., has advised his parents, Air and Aim A. E. Ilarding, Dargavillc, that he has been safely evacuated from Crete. Major Harding, who served in the last, war, took part in the lighting in Greece.

Ho was | horn in England and served in the war of 191.4-18 from the age of 17 tears. He gained commissioned rank and saw post-war service in the War Office. He unsuccessfully contested the Hawke's Bay seat in 1928, and was a member of the Hastings Borough Council and the Napier Harbour Board, resigning to remove to Auckland in 1951. He won the YYaitemata seat for Labour in 1955. defeating Mr A. Harris. Readers will recall that Captain YV. 11. 1). Bell, who was member for Wellington Suburbs, made the supreme sacrifice in the last war.
