' ALTERNATIVE DUTIES. WELLINGTON, .May 31. The following resolutions relating to: conscientious objectors were ’ adopted by the annual conference of the New! Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Assoeia- 1 tion in Wellington yesterday: “That urgent representations he made to the Government to implement the regulations so far as alternative service for conscientious objectors is concerned, and that the Minister immediately define the conditions of alternative service and that payment for such service be at soldiers’ rates of pay. “This Dominion council, having learnt that a number of men having been passed for military service have failed to report for militarv dutv. is
of the opinion that immediate steps should ho ta'ken to deal with such do faulters, and that in addition to any penalties provided, such persons .should he deprived of their civil’ rights.”
