EXTRACT'S FROM “STANDARD." MAY 19, 1941. Tho vessels Wuirau and llimatangi had come into collision in the Muiiuwatit River just below Hartley's Bend at. Foxton. The Wairau had been holed amidships and sank in a short space of time. The llimatangi was undamaged. The King was to unveil a memorial in London to Queen Victoria. All the visiting Royalty for the Coronation ceremony were to he present. Provided the Government would agree to the rebels having three seats in the Cabinet and holding 14 of tho 27 governorships then peace would be assured for tho people of Mexico. General Madero, the rebel leader, expected to be President. Serious floods had wrought, havoc in the Poverty Buy. Large areas had been inundated and losses were heavy near Gisborne.
