SAVAGE CLUB. The Fending Savage Club held ids first korere ol the season on .Saturday evening, Bungitira. A. AY. Pownall presiding over a good attendance. Air li. C. ii. Somerset gave a talk on his trip to Germany lour years ago. The orchestra was under the conductor,'ship of iSavagu J. Fleetwood, while' .Savage 10. Palmer presided at the piano. It was stated that arrangements are well in hand lor the first ladies’ night to be held shortly. Petrol Supplies. Among the duties of the traffic inspector (..Mr D. Al. Ford) is the inspection of 100 reserve petrol tanks in the Alanawatu district every month. The tanks in which petrol is stored for use m an emergency are checked and the contents measured. Golf. The best scores registered by competitors in the Golf Club’s medal competition oil Saturday were: —Senior P. C. Miles, 79 — 6—73 ; J. N. Rauch, 30—15 —73 ; V. .J. Stichbury, SO —6 —74 ; T.
