TAKARO MEETING.

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —A report appearing in to-day’s “Standard” of the Labour candidates’ meeting held at Takaro, in which 1 was invited to speak, reports me as having made tlie tollowing statement: “Air Smith said he was not in any way connected with tiie Citizens Ticket nor did he desire to associate himself with it. He had not been consulted and was amazed at those responsible for its publication.” \\ hat 1 actually said was this: “Although my name appeared on the Citizens’ Ticket I had not been consulted. 1 would add that perhaps the compiler ot the ticket wanted to be in on a winner.” — L am, etc., E. HOWARD SMITH. Palmerston North, 14/5/41.
