AWAPUNI TRACK. -'NEW FENCES ERECTED. (By “Spectator.”) Three new sleeplecliaso fences have been erected cn the Awapuni course and they are of a. substantial nature. Near the three furlong post is a beard fence 311 7in high. At the top ofr the straight, near the scraping sheds is a log fence 3ft 6iu in height and solidly built. Nearly a furlong further on the sod wall lias been erected. Jt has a base of seven feet, is three feet across at the top and 3ft bin high. 'J hey are not obstacles to be trifled with and will re-* quire clean jumping. Horses with engagements at the Otnki meeting on Saturday were worked on the course proper. The poles were about halfway out and the track was in good order, but. the times registered were not very fast.

Aurora”s Star took 1.14 to run five furlongs. jManahau doinfi the same distance in 1.10.

Sandy Bay took 60sec to run half a mile. Gaelic Song shaped nicely when running seven lurlongs in 1.40 and Selkirk ran the last five of the same distance in 1.13 2-5.

Ringless (\V. Broughton) infused dash into his work when running half a mile in 53 2-sscc.

Renascor, Courting, and Caution provided an attractive gallop when they left seven furlongs behind in 1.37 35, l lie first four in 56 2-ssee and the last four in 57sec. Caution joined in just before the six furlongs post. Colibri w,as not doing his best when covering the same distance in 1.43 2-5 and Myarion and Hokumai went well when they registered 1.37 1-5 for a similar distance. War Credit did a nice gallop when running five furlongs in 1.9 3-5. Flying Spray was allowed to run along three furlongs which she did in 41«ec.

It took Colcrica 1.13 to run five furlongs, but she could have improved on this, and Bit mark, who followed her, covered the same ground in 1.8 2-5. . Victnire and Tau-Uru wore companions over six furlongs which were left behind in 1.25. Sweet Anne was sent half a mile, registering 56 l-ssec for the distance. Ara, Squecrs, and Henry of Huntingdon hit out freely' when running five furlongs- in 1.12. Game I’it (N. Wright) was sent out once round the trial steeplechase course and gave quite a good display. , Foxiana (E. Temperton) was sent over Ihrcc hurdles and jumped nicely. lie was followed bv Manteau (D. Redstone) who gave a good display. Corroborce (Miss F. White) outjumped Quadroon (M. Bowden) in a round over the hurdles.

E. Knapp has gone to Te Rapa for the Waikato meeting with Bridegroom. Riotous and Du Mauricr. All were in good order when they left. B. Brady will ride Riotous in liia engagements. Clarion Cal! was given a strong working gallop with B. H. Morris up. He had been cased in his work owing to trouble in a tci.don, but is now showing signs of improvement and it is hoped to start him at tho Wanganui meeting.
