The Daily Telegraph's aviation correspondent says bench and flight tests have been made of a “contraprop” or co-axial oppositely-rotating airscrew with controllable pitch blades intended considerably to improve the efficiency of aircraft. The contraprop can be visualised as two airscrews close together mounted on two shafts, one running inside the other, turning in opposite directions. ]t possesses many advantages. .
