WHY HESS ESCAPED
BELIEF in NAZI SPLIT GROWS GREAT BLOW TO HITLER’S PRESTIGE
LONDON, May 13
Further details of the amazing flight of Rudolph Hess, Hitler’s deputy, to Scotland emphasise how well planned it was-and give support to the belief that he is an escapee from the Nazi regime. Hess has been removed from the Glasgow hospital to an undisclosed destination, where lie is being held in confinement.
Hess spent the day resting - , reading and writing; he looks tired after his flight and his first experience of a parachute jump.
Hess brought no messages. The opinion is widely held that his exploit is an escape from the Nazi regime and Britain is the only country he could come to. Had lie gone to a neutral country he would have been murdered by Nazi agents.
