A resolution was passed levying a general rate of Id nor acre for the period from April 1. 1941. to March 31. 1942. The report of the inspector (Mr D. R. Barron) stated inter alia: The weather during the past month has been ideal for rabbit destruction work and poisoning and fumigation have been pul in hand in a large area. To date the majority of the area containing 1 lie “cover** portion north of the J limatangi-Rangioiu road and west of the i limatangi-S'anson road lias been poisoned. A great deal of trouble was experienced on some areas owing to shooters trespassing -on the blocks during the course of poisoning operations. Poisoning has also commenced on the Forestry Reserve at Tangimoana. The clear from “cover” country i 9 in very fair order for this time of the year and should entail no hardship on any landowner to keep it in ihis condition. Clearing of weeds is being put in band on several properties but the labour shortage is having <i definite effect on this class of work.
