State Theatre.—Racetrack thrills and the stirring drama of courageous jockeys \vl» rido to win in the grand sport-of-kings arc excitingly depicted in “Ride, Kelly, Ride,” a fast-moving racing romance. Eugene Pallctt, Marvin Stephens, ltita Quigley and Alary llcaly head the featured cast of this new 20th CenturyFox Him. “Ride, Kelly, Ride” is based on a novel by the famed author Peter B. Kyne and is packed with realistic, bcluiul-tlic-sccncs action. Told from the jockey’s viewpoint, it’s a fresh approach to racetrack lilms. Young .Marvin Stephens, a world-bo bronco buster, is “[lotted by a wealthy racehorse owner who admires the boy’s courage and horsemanship. Given a place with the stubla, .Stephens is put under the guidance of a veteran trainer, played by portly Eugene Pallette. Shewn in a series of interc-ting episodes is the boy’s development from raw cowhand to top flight jockey. Then comes his first, big race followed by thrilling shots showing him riding at some of America’s best-known racetracks. Meteor Theatre. —In the story of three gallant sons of the plains willi a leaning to larceny, “Rangers of Fortune.” which shows to-night at the Meteor Theatre, Paramount has delivered an action epic that, is fust, class for adventure, romance and lusty iaughs. Director Sam Woods, turning away from the leisurely pace of “Good-bye. Mr Chips” and “Our Town,’’ has prod'u ed a picture that is distinguished for its slashing action and the power of its climax. \ cast, notable for the P'O-cticc of Fred Mac .Murray and Patricia .Mori-on in the romantic leads, acts the picture with all the ingenuity and skill at its command. Several of the I screen's more promising yotmg players arc given a chance to carry a picture on ib ur own hi Paramount's “Dancing cn a Dime.” and the result is one of the most entertaining musicals seen for many a long day. The cast is headed by Robert Paige, a comparative newcomer who is rapidly making an impression.
