CUBA STREET GUILD
A “bite and pieces” afternoon made a 1 pleasant change for members of the Cuba Street Lauies’ Guild when they met yesterday. A competition was held lor articles made iroin “bits and pieces” and the programme was composed of short items contributed by members. Mrs A. E. Fisher presided and welcomed members and visitors, thanking Miss Dittmer and Mrs Morgan lor attractively decorating the room with chrysanthemums. A letter of good wishes and flowers are to be sent to Mrs A. 8. Jacobs who is in hospital. Mrs F. Dorset gave a devotional reading and led the meeting in prayer. The secretary (Mrs E. Twigge) read a letter from the United Guild thanking members for donations of clothing, and a letter from the A.N.A. Club advising the time when guild members would be required for canteen work. A roster was arranged, for these duties. The secretary of the Bible class wrote asking for help in redecorating their meeting room and the sum of £1 Is was granted. Items were given by Mesdames T. R. Tlodder, who read a poem, “In Bermondsey”; A. Fisher, junr., J. Candy, gleanings from Bible class camp memories; E. Johansen, verses, “A Day of Prayer”; E. Twigge, meanings of Christian names; Miss 0. Sandford, verses, “A Letter From a Friend.” Mesdames Gilling and Bo.ves were appointed scrutineers for the “bits and pieces” competition, which was judged by vote, the prizes going to Mrs A. E. Fisher (first) and Mrs Hislop (second). The hostesses were Mesdames Hislop (convener), A. E. Fisher. A. H. Fisher, junr. Mesdames Boyc6, setir., and Cribb were in charge of a bring and buy stall.
