NEED EOll SHIPS. SYDNEY, May 12. The Daily Telegraph's New York correspondent cables that Mr William Goodiollow, ot Auckland, 1 stated that 40 per cent, ot the ships carrying New Zealand dairy products to England have been sunk, causing food to accumulate in. New Zealand. Mr Goodiellow, who is flying to London to endeavour to obtain shipping space for the surplus New Zealand primary products, said that 20 ships with refrigerated space would relieve the position.
Although official figures are not available, it is learned in authoritative circles in Wellington that the percentage of sinkings reported to have been given by Mr Goodfellow is a considerable exaggeration. Since the end of November the Josses of ships actually engaged in the New Zealand trade have been very small compared with those for the previous 12 months.
