Meteor Theatre. —A power-mad scientist with an invention that will rock the world, and five helpless victims turned into capsule creatures one-fifth their normal size are the principals in the screen's most startling drama, “Dr Cyclops,” _ Paramount's adventure thriller in tcchnicolour, which shows to-day at the Meteor Theatre. Filmed behind locked doors from a closelyguarded secret script, “Dr Cyclops’ ” release solves a riddle the whole screen world has been talking about for nioro than a year; what is this story so spectacular no word of it can leak out? What Is this production that cost a fortune and yet has not a “big name” in its cast. Who are the “humanettoo” and why are they the year’s most surprising film characters? The secret is out! “Dr Cyclops,” a picture as daring as it is different, tells what happens when an unbalanced hut brilliant scientist discovers a machine that “shrinks” human beings into a miniature people 14 inches tall, yet retaining all flic emotions, functions and personality of full-sized men and women.

Regent Theatre. —Mirth and melody reign at the Regent Theatre when Mickey Rooney, Judy Garland and a group of clever youngsters, many of them seen with the youthful stars in “Babes’ in • Arms,” arc regaling audiences with harmonies and comicalities. Mickey and Judy organise a high school hand in the story and that’s when things begin to liapiien. Paul Whiteman has announced a radio contest for high school bands. They set out to raise funds for the trip to Chicago. They stage a travestj’ of old-time melodrama, with the buzz 'saw, heroine tied to the railway tracks, and such rncicnt ditties as “Heaven Will Protect a Working Girl.” When Paul Whiteman appears in their town they borrow. his orchestra’s instruments during an intormisison and give him an audition he never expected. Paul Whiteman not only conducts an orchestra but proves himself a very cajiable actor in his scenes with the youngsters.
