The Manawatu-Oroua River Board at its meeting discussed a Bill on which evidence has . been called for hearing by May 17, by which catchment lxiards, it is proposed, will he set tip ! to control river and drainage boards. It was decided to write to the Parliamentary committee which is to hear evidence on the Bill, pointing out that I the local body elections are to be held on May 17 and that there would bo changes of personnel at the elections. The board is’to state that it wishes to give evidence but suggests that the taking of it be postponed for a mouth. A proposal made at the meeting is that other local bodies be invited to lie represented when evidence is presented, and this suggestion is to be | examined.
