POPE’S PEACE AIMS
(British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, May 10. Cardinal Hinslev presided at a meeting to-day in support of “an agreed Christian order.” This meeting and another which the Archbishop of Canterbury is expected to preside over to-morrow, iollowcd a recent letter to the Times, when the Christian leaders in this country accepted the Pope’s peace points. In the course of his speech Cardinal Hinsley said: “Me have one great purpose in which we aro unshaken and undivided against the onslaught of brute force. We will uphold the fundamental principles of personal, national and international freedom to the last. We renew the appeal of the Pope to all men of goodwill and to all who believe in God that they combine in loyal and hearty collaboration and in order to ward oil from mankind the danger that threatens all alike.” A resolution was carried urging the Government of the British Commonwealth and allied and associated Governments to adopt the 10 points of the letter as a basis for any future statement of war and peace aims.
