The monthly meeting of the Feilding S.P.CA. was held recently, Mr G. Coleman presiding in the absence of die president (Mrs V. Morphy). Thanks were extended to Mr W. E. C'arthcw who has expressed his willingness to collect. members' subscriptions. It, was decided to wiite to Mrs W. .1. Alpe thanking her for her support at all times. A motion of sympathv was passed with Miss Sinclair in the death of her mother. Advice was received that the Feilding branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union found it impossible to give the society any financial assistance towards the erection of the trough on Sandon Road. A social was held by the Feilding St. John Ambulance- Brigade on Saturday evening, the occasion being the presentation of the home nursing certificates. Musical items, community singing, and dancing were the order of the evening. Mr C. Hausmann (president of the Feilding association) took the opportunity of oxtending to Mr and Mrs 11. M. Monro a hearty welcome, and congratulated members on the high standard obtained in the home nursing examination, a 100 per cent, pass being recorded. He called on Mrs Monro to present the certificates, after which those present were entertained at supper. The official party included Dr and Mrs Monro, Mrs J. H. Low (lady superintendent of the Nursing Division) and Mr C. Hausmann.

At. the annual meeting of the Feilding Milk Vendors' Association, Mr C. Bailey was elected chairman. It was decided that, m the event of a vendor in tho town being called upon to give military aervice overseas, his zone be retained for him ami delivery effected by the other vendors.

Air J. IT. Mason, with Mr W. I". Bickers, has been elected to rcprosent. the Oroua County on the Manawatu-Oroua Power Board.

At the annual meeting of the Old Girls' Basketball Club Mrs N. Fitzpatrick was elected president. Other officers arc: Vicepresidents, Mrs Parker >and Mist, M. Taylor; patron, Mr L. J. Wild; captain, Miss D. Burgess; vice-pat rou. Miss N. Williamson; secretary, Miss S. Pcarpoint; committee, Misses N. Heap, L. Coleman, and M. Graham.

Mr R. M. Watson. S.M., presided at the sitting of the Magistrate's Court today. Raymond Clark, a waiter at tl.o Trcntham Military Camp, was fined £1 with cofits 10s for failing to carry a warrant of fitness. For disobedience of a maintenance order in rrgpect of his wife, V. J. Sanson, labourer of Feilding, was sentenced to thrcti wceko' imprisonment, llie warrant to be suspended so long as he pays current maintenance and £1 off the arrears per week—a total of £4 per week.
