LOCAL BODY ELECTIONS.
CLOSING OF NOMINATIONS. COUNTRY CANDIDATES. | Nominations for local bodies which closed : at noon yesterday, show that an election will be necessary lor the Kairanga County Council in the Mangaone and Fitzheri bert ridings, in each of which four were received for three vacancies. In the faonui riding the required number of nominations, three, were received. No elections will bo necessary for the county representative on the 1 "ox ton Harbour Board, for which the retiring member, Mr J. Linklatcr, will be replaced by Mr W. R. Hopcroft, and on the Palincraton North Ilo>pital Board, but council's representatives on the Manawatu-Oroua Power Board four nominations were received for two seat". There are 10 nominations for seven seats on the Makerua Drainage Board, but no election will be necessary for the Manawalu Drainage Board. For all Manawalu County seats the sitting members were again nominated, and no elections will be necessary.
