EXTRACTS FROM "STANDARD, MAY 3, 1911.
The installation of the Mayor and the members of the Borough Council had taken place. There were present: Mr J. A. Nash (Mayor) and Messrs Armstrong, Stubbs, McCarthy, Beale, o"Reilly, A. E. Clausen, !•'. J. Nathan and llaydon. Mr F. Mowlem was absent.
The population of Kairanga cour.ly was 3377, compared with the previous figure; of 3631, an increase of 196. In the Mannwatu county the figure was 4462, compared with 4007, an increase of 455. The Mexkan rebels bad shot a former professor of the Californian University, Mr Olson Sheffield. It was reported that international complications might follow.
