Canterbury markets. (Press Assn) CIIRISTCHURCII, May 2. The grain and produce market* arc- very quiet at present, with local trade cl 1111. after a fairly active season. The possibilities of export are regarded as not altogether unfavourable, though shipments will probably be made slowly, and as opportunity occurs. Offerings of seed from the country are now light, and it appears that the bulk of this season's crops have been cleared from farmers' hands. The increment earlier in the week attracted seme wheat ro the market, but reports indicate that there is little wheat left in the country. The market for fescue has improved a little. Rrowntcp is very short in piritorbury this year, and the value at present is about 2s for machinedressed seed. It appears that the bulk of the red clover has been cleared up. The crop promised well early in the season, hut after a break in the weather quality and deliveries fell off. A gocd deal of lucerne seed was saved this year, and offerings were fairlv liberal. The value is about Is 3d to Is 6d'a lb. Dairy Produce Competition.
Dairv entries for the Waikato Winter Show 'total 1138, there being 713 in the butter section and 425 in the cheese section. Last year the entries numbered 1178. The butter" entries show an i-icrease of 13, but there is a drop in ch cse.
