APPEAL BOARD CASE

WORK OF CHEMISTS. (Press Assn.) WELLINGTON, May 1. “The women of this country are anxious to do something for the war effort,” said Mr F. Stillwell, S.M.. chairman of the War Sendee Appeal Board, at the hearing of an appeal against military service, the case being that of an analytical chemist. “I am quite sure a who has graduated as a bachelor of science would he prepared, if approached in the right way, to step into industry lor the period of the war at least. A representative of the company making the appeal said attempts had not been made to fill chemists’ positions with women graduates, lo secure men was practically impossible. The appeal was adjourned sine die in the national interest. It was pointed out that the employers would have to release the chemist if the Crown wanted his services.
