; ANNUAL MEETING. Mr T. R. Hodder was in the chair at tlie annual meeting of the Bahnerston North branch of the Y.M.C.A. The chairman, in speaking to the annual report, said tnat the association could well be proud in coming through a difficult year so satis,actorily. Ylie present conflict had taken away the services of the boys’ work director and the general secretary, and also a large number of senior men, who had joined tlie Forces.' The association bad lost its camp buildings at Pohaiigina, which had been wasiied away by the recent Hood. Despite these and other obstacles, the association bad carried on and it had much to feel satisfied with. The speaker paid a tribute to the work of the ladies’ auxiliary and the leaders’ corps and thanked all who had assisted tlie association during the past year.
in the report ' the following statistics regarding membership were set out: —- Gymnasium classes: Boy, 203; senior men, 34; business men, 26; girls, 70; ladies, 44; total, 377. Sports field: Cricket, 12- swimming club, 12; harriers’ club, 20; total, 44. Basketball League: Men 17 teams, 121 players; ladies, 31 teams, 216 players; total, 337. The report of the treasurer (Mr L. I. Plimmer) disclosed a surplus of £39 on the year's op orations, as compared with a surplus of £l4 the previous year. Membership fees for classes, and sustaining membership fees, totalled £439, as compared with £514 the previous year, while donations amounted lo £IBB. against £75 in 1940, the increase being due to cne donation of £IOO. lied Triangle Day brought in £l5O, as against £ll9. The meeting rc-clcctcd the retiring board of directors, Mr Ilodder being reelected president. Tribute was paid ffj the work of Mr Hodder and Mr G .A. Elidlt (chairman of the board of directors), the ladies’ auxiliary, the treasurer (Mr L. 1. Plimmer), the lion, auditor (Mr I). G. G 1 endinning) and all others who had assisted the association’s work.
