Nordmeyer (Minister of Health), who makes it clear that the chemists are' at liberty not to co-operate, though it is anticipated this will not occur in any substantial number of cases. Prescriptions from any doctor, if issued on or after Monday, can be provided through contract chemists, without charge to the patient. Mr Nordmevcr, when asked if the scheme covered proprietary medicines when prescribed, stated ‘that where there is an equivalent British pliarmaeocpia prescription its cost will he paid by the Social Security Depart incut and tlie patient will p'iiv the excess for proprietary medicines.
