LUTHERAN CHURCH

CONFERENCE RALEY. Lutherans of the Rangitikei district, with a sprinkling of adherents from the South Island, assembled* in the grounds of the Marton congregation lor their Conference Mission Rally on Sunday. The local congregation entertained. The president, Pastor C. A. Vena, of Nelson, addressing a large congregation, exhorted' the assembly to exhibit courage, a firm faith, and a lively hope in these dark days. Addressing the assembly in the afternoon, Rev. C. W. Appelt, of Wellington, called upon those present to meet the challenge of the times to the Church by an “all-in” policy for Christ through a more decided personal witness to the Word of God.

When the sessions were resumed on Monday the following resolution was adopted: ‘‘That this convention do publicly affirm also on behalf of our church body, the Evangelical Lutheran Concordia Conference of New Zealand, otir loyalty and devotion to His Majesty King George VI., and to our Government of New Zealand; and that we do solemnly declare that this Lutheran Church in New Zealand has not outside connection other than with the Evangelical Lutheran Synod in Australia, with which we are affiliated, and tjie Evangelical Lutheran Synod in the United States, with which we stand in religious fellowship.”
