TOKOMARU

(From Our Own Correspondent.) At a euchre party held under the auspices of the Labour Party, the prize-win-ners were: —Mrs C. Osman, and Mr C. Marriott; points prizes, Mrs B. Hay and Mrs C. Osman (equal) and Mr F. Gyde. Mr A. J. Parncn, o-f the Railways Department, lias received advice that his younger son, Mr Trevor Parnell, has been successful in passing the senior examination held recently bv the Comptroller of Stores. Mr Parnell gained the highest marks of candidates throughout New Zealand. This is a lino achievement, as lie is only 20 years of age. The annual meeting of the R.S.A. was presided over by Mr G. Alright. It was unanimously decided to become a subbranch of Shannon. The new committee is: President, Mr G. Alright : secretary, Mr *T. Ryder; executive, Messrs .T. Biggins, G. Wilde, IT. Hansen, J. McNab and G. Kiliott. Mrs E. Wagliorn has relumed to Stratford after a holiday spent with relatives hero. Lance-Corporal R. Gyde has returned to Wanganui military camp, after visiting his parents, Mr and Mrs F. R. Gyde. Mr L. Wallace has been the gue.-t of his sister, Mrs E. Turner. Mrs C. Chivcrs has taken up Iter duties as postmistress after her annual vacation. Mrs D. Murdock is spending a holiday at Stratford as the guest of her brother. Mr A. Hanson, of Wellington.-, has been visiting his mother, Mrs O. Hansen. Mr E. Stokes is spending a holiday in Wellington. , , The jtall was well filled when the Anznc service was held, Rev. E. Bush. of Shannon, conducting the proceedings. Three platoons of the Home Guard took part in the parade, which was very impressive.
