WEDDING

ELLEY—BARRIE. • The wedding took place at the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Palmerston North, on Thursday, April 10, at Marion Robb Lang, youngest daughter of-Mr and Airs G. Barrie, of Heatherlea, Levin, and Ernest ltueban, second sou of Air and the late Airs 11, W. J. Elley, of Palmerston North. Rev. J. Hubbard performed the ceremony, and Airs J. Emmett presided at the organ. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, presented a. charming picture in a graceful frock of magnolia satin riche, made with fitted bodice shaped to a point at the waistline. The heart-shaped neckline was emphasised by a high Alcdiei collar composed of satin rouleaux. Ruched panels inserted in the sleeves gave a high shoulder-line, while the fully flared skirt, cut to form a long train with a V-shaped panel of satin rouleaux inserted gave an unusual openwork effect. Her embroidered veil was of magnolia tulle and fell from a coro--1 net of flowers. She carried a beautiful sheaf of Easter lilies, charm dahlias, gvosnphila and maidenhair fern, which was the gift of Mrs B. L. HubI bard.

The bride, was attended by two bridesmaids and one flower girl. The bridesmaids, Mies Jean Barrie (chief) and Miss Lois Atkins, wore dainty frocks of ivorv georgette cut on Grecian lines with full skirts fitting into embroidered waistbands. Both wore flowered Juliet caps and carried sheafs of gladioli, charm dahlias and maidenhair fern. Annette Barrie (niece of the bride) made a charming little flower girl and was attired in a frock cut on similar lines to the bridesmaids’. She carried a Victorian posy. The duties of best man and groomsman were carried out bv Messrs W. E. and B. Elley. respectively, brothers of the bridegroom. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a horseshoe by little Judith Spencer, niece of the bridegroom. At the reception, hold at the P.TXC. tearooms, the guest« were received bv Mrs G. Barrie (mother of the bride), who was attired in a frock of Trench crew, with gold and pink trimmings, and carried a posy of i»nfc carnations, v She was assisted bv Mrs AV. Gahan (sister of the brideg room), who wore a

frock of black spangled taffeta and carried a posy of autumn-tinted flowers. The tables were tastefully decorated, the centrepiece being a twotiered cake iced in deep cream. The duties of toastmaster were carried out bv Mr Hubbard. When the happy couple left on their honeymoon, which was spent in Napier. Mrs Elley appeared in a smart battleship grey cloth coat with slouch hat and accessories to tone.
