INCREASE SHOWN MONEY FOR E.P.S. PLANS. Faced with the necessity of finding £2859 Its 9d at the direction of the Internal Affairs Department for the provision of equipment for the Emergency Precautions Scheme in Palmerston North, tlie Fire Board to-day pared down its ordinary estimates to .£OOO hclow those of last year, and the amount to he found by the City Council under this heading is ' £4IBO. Including half of the sum required by the Emergency Precautions Scheme, the council lias to find a total of £5910. Of the amount being provided hy the Fire Board under the Emergency Precautions Scheme, it was estimated that equipment costing £412 10s would he of no direct benefit to the hoard, whereas the remainder would dovetail with material the hoard already uses.
The chairman (Mr A. E. .Mansford) commented that the hoard had kept the estimates down to the absolute minimum in view of the needs of the Emergency Precautions Scheme.
