ANZACS’ GALLANT DISPLAY
This week will go down in the history ot New Zealand and Australia as of equal significance with the epic deeds ot the Anzacs on Gallipoli in 1915. By their gallant rearguard action covering the withdrawal of the Imperial Forces to a new line in Greece, they have written a fresh chapter in the annals or military prowess. Chief events have included:
April 19.—Another big air raid on London. Gallant rearguard action slows down Nazi advance in Northern Greece. Slavs discontinue fighting. April 20.—Germans take AJt. Olympus alter evacuation by Allies; Imperial troops "lighting like lions.” Tank attack on Tobruk defeated, uuir, tanks smashed. Brest raided again by R.A.F. April 21. —British evacuate Larissa and Trikkala; Nazis claim capture of Yolo. Successful Allied withdrawal continues with slight losses. R.A.F. raid Dusseldorf. Cologne, Aachen, Rotterdam, Dunkirk, and Calais. April 22. —New Allied line taken up 50 miles south of Larissa ; enemy pressure kept up at all points. Navy and Fleet Air Arm pound six transports and destroyer at Tripoli; Air Arm torpedoes and sinks three other ships; Free .French submarine probably sinks another vessel.
April 23. —-Greeks abandon Athens; King and Government move to Crete. Epirus army surrenders, but remainder continue struggle; position of British Forces critical. Plymouth heavilv raided.
April 24.—Germans ordered to occupy Athens; Allies lighting “last stages” of rearguard action. Brest heavily raided.
April 25.—Fighting south of Lamia; Xnzs attack Lemnos. R.A.F. bomb Kiel and Wilhelmshaven. Another attack on Solium repulsed.
