(Rcc. 1.-10 p.m.) OTTAWA, April 2. “No part of the Pacific area, unless it is prepared to defend itself, is sale from Japanese expansion,” said Sir Robert Clive, former British Ambassador to Japan, in a speech at Halifax. He added that Japan aimed at a protectorate over all the nations in her orbit, including the Netherlands Indies, Thailand and China. “I do not believe Japan intends at present to extend her sphere of influence to Australia and New Zealand,” he added.
