TURKEY WILL FIGHT
IF SITUATION DEMANDS. (United Press Association.—Copyright) (Rec. 1.35 p.m.) LONDON, March 24. The Greek Press Minister, in a statement in Athens, said the Greeks do not believe it can be possibly true that Yugoslavia is about to sign an agreement permitting the passage of German war materials. The Greeks believe sound judgment will prevail. Permission tor the passage of arms would mean that the Yugoslav railways would carry bombs and ammunition with which the enemy would kill Greek women and children. We believe neither the brave Serb people nor the army will tolerate such an act, which would be a stab in Greece’s back.” The Turkish Pres» has declared that Yugoslavia is courting serfdom and dismemberment. Members of the National Assembly throughout the country have emphasised Turkey’s determination to light j if necessary. At Istanbul it is officially stated that Turkey and Russia have exchanged a declaration expressing determination to refrain from embarrassing each other in any way should either be involved in war. , } ( ,
