RUSSIAN NEUTRALITY
IF TURKEY ENTERS WAR OFFICIAL REASSURANCE LONDON, March 24. An important statement was made to-night by Soviet Russia that, should Turkey feel obliged to engage in war to defend her neutrality, Turkey may depend upon the full understanding and neutrality of Russia. Tlie announcement was published simultaneously at Moscow and Ankara, and in conveying its sincere thanks the Turkish Government has given an assurance that in similar circumstances Russia may depend upon the full understandingand neutrality of Turkey. It is reported that the Yugoslav Premier and Foreign Minister left at 3 o’clock this afternoon for Vienna, where they will meet the German leaders. Reuter says the Yugoslav people are entirely in ignorance of what is happening. Commenting on the situation, the Athens radio says the Greele people refuse to believe that the Yugoslav people would accept conditions so humiliating to themselves and so inimical to Greece as signing an Axis pact.
