There was an attendance of over 40 men at a meeting hold on Wednesday evening when the Emergency Precautions Scheme was successfully launched in Foxton. The Alayor (Air M. E. Perrcau) presided. An address was given by the organiser, Mr W. Trucman, who said that on the previous evening, he had attended a 'meeting of the county organisations in Oroua Downs, when it was made plain that Foxton intended to operate as a complete unit of its own. They offered to take in the beach, Himatangi, Marotiri and such portions of the-Moutoa area as cared to come this way, and that arrangement was practically in effect . now. Air J. Alartin reported having taken the matter up and said he would be able to organise a unit to serve under the E.P.S. without trouble. Mr Trucman said he had been in correspondence with the Women's War Service Auxiliary in Wellington about the formation of a branch in Foxton, but had received no satisfaction other than a letter to say that a branch would be formed under the Palmerston North centre. In his opinion there should be no delay in the establishment of a women's unit.

The monthly sitting of the Foxton Magistrate's Court was held on Thursday, Air 11. P. Lawry, S.M., presiding. F. Lewer,: charged with being in possession of intoxicating liquor in the vicinity of the Beach hall, on the occasion of a dance, was fined £3. Eric Alontaperto, a trainee in the Foxton military camp, appeared on two charges of posting an indecent article to a resident at Taradale. Accused was not represented by counsel and pleaded guilty to both charges. He was fined £3 on the first charge and ordered to pay costs 10s only on the second conviction. Rangi Paid charged with driving a motor car while not being the possessor of a driver's license, was fined £l.
