RAIDER DEPREDATION
VOlvi LUCKNER IN CONTROL. (United Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 1.10 p.m.) LONDON, Marcli 21. Count von Luckner is commanding Germany's raiders from the Norwegian auxiliary cruiser Glengarry, which he seized during the invasion or Norway, says the NewsChronicle's Manila correspondent, who adds that the information comes from a reliable source.
The Germans are using as raiders niodern ships, armour-plated and heavily gunned, being capable of 18 to 22 knots.
A New York message says the British freighter Empire Attendant, which had been reported torpedoed 100 miles off the Irish coast on March 7, with four other ships in convoy, arrived unexpectedly to-day. Captain Kooy, of the Dutch liner Leerdam, had said on arrival on Wednesday that he was close to the Empire Attendant when the torpedo struck her. Britisli officials here refused to comment on the Empire Attendant's arrival and the captain and crew were not allowed to recount their experiences. .
The last news of von Luckner was contained in a letter he sent to an American journalist saying he was shooting in the- Harz Mountains and his yacht was laid' up.
