NOTES. Mr A. Meads, a checscmakcr at the Woodville Co-operative Dairy Co.'s factory, was the victim of a painful accident this week when an 800-gallon vat, which w;as being moved tilted so* that it came heavily in contact with one of his big toes, badly crushing it. The mishap was the worse for the fact that Mr Meads, as is customary with many indoor workers in the industry, was barefoot. He will be incapacitated for a week or two.
Mrs G. Rose, whose death was reported from Otahuhu this week, at the age of 55, was formerly a resident of Woodville, with her husband and family. Mourning her passing are Mr Rose, one daughter (Mrs H. Piper) and one son, Leonard, all residents of Otahuhu. During Constable Skinner's absence in Christchurch, "Constable Turvoy, of Palnierbton North, is in charge of the Woodville station. Miss K. Waugh, who was recently under treatment in the Wellington Hospital, is ' making good progress towards recovery from her illness. Mr and Mrs R. L. Patterson are visiting Matamata.
Twelve new enrolments for the week raise the Woodville district Home Guard unit to a strength of 265. The new members are: Messrs 11. Beagley, B. Clark, J. W. Clark, N. A. Fausett, T. G. Jamieson, W. A. Kemp, R. J. Kidd, D. McGregor, K. F. Retter, L. R. Russell, H. M. Smith, and A. G. Tattle. , Aircraftsman H. Richards, -of Rongotai, Wellington, is visiting his parents, Mr and Mrs R. Richards, McLean Street.
Mrs Moulin (formerly Miss Trask), who is at present staying in Woodville,. has received official advice of the death of sickness on active service of her husband, Driver W. 11. Moulin, of the 2nd N.Z.E.F.
