To raise Foxton's quota for tho Heart-; to-Heart Appeal (£1200) a queen carnival I was hold and resulted in over £I3OO being ' collected. The successful candidate was j Miss Shirley Newth (representing tho Farmers). Others were Misses P. Colcy (Sports), Joyce Parfitt (Citizens) and S. Waaka (Maoris). Tho final result was: —| Farmers, £543 3s 7d; Sports, £444 4s 8d; Citizens, £231 ss; Maoris, £lO4 8s 8d; total, £1325 Is lid. The final results of the popularity contest were: Princess Mahi, 7433 votes, 1; Miss Joan Marriott. 5857, votes, 2; Princess Diana, 4372 votes, 3; Miss Beverley Barron,' 4023 votes, 4. Men: Mr W.' Neville, 814 votes, 1. This' competition was sponsored by the Sports' Queen Committee and resulted in tho grand sum of £ll4 lis being collected, tho total number of votes recorded being 27,492.
